After graduating college with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and an emphasis on Occupational Psychology; Janet Murray was intrigued by the psychology involved in business and sales. She saw a correlation between the behaviors of potential clients, their hesitation to make change even if it would help them. As well as the behaviors and approach of the sales team, and if they were able to present solutions over just making a sale.
She used her findings and joined corporate America working for large communications corporations, but after experiencing the large corporation trend of sales over service, she took the leap and started her first woman-owned business, Bicoastal Communication – Interconnect. She gained certifications from Tobisha, Mitel, Samsung, and Nortel and began installing their systems, integrating customers’ telephone systems with the different carriers for their dial tones to their systems. Most importantly, Janet worked on the true meaning of communications by listening to customers and creating solutions for what they actually needed, not just making a sale. She became a trusted liaison between the carriers and customers.
For the next decade Janet merged personally and professionally with a friend and partnered in a company called Communications Alliance where she gained her C7 license and continued to offer communication based services with a hardware service technician department.
Then in 2008 when she decided to log-out and hit restart, Jan returned to solo ownership and rebranded the company as CommAlliance, merging voice, data, connectivity, and security. It was then that she saw the shift away from hardware to software and evolved the company to a remote environment with Voice Over IP. She became certified in Simple Signal Voice over IP, and after they merged with Vonage she received certification from them as well.
As the need for connection to the internet grew, so did the need to be safe on the Internet, so CommAlliance began integrating cyber-safety training and finding solutions for this ever changing need.
Today, Janet and her team not only see the need for mobility and security that is designed specific to each client; with over 30 years of experience in the industry, we have experienced it first-hand.
